Conveniently located near the junction of the M1 and Kanahooka Road, Lakeside Memorial Park can be easily accessed by car.

Choice, professional maintenance and family connection; these are three of the reasons why Wollongong and Illawarra families choose to memorialise their loved ones at Lakeside Memorial Park.

Memorial Choices

Lakeside Memorial Park has a wide selection of burial and cremation memorials, so you can choose how to remember and honour a loved one.

We have lawn and headstone burials, cultural options including crypts and mausoleums, a Veteran memorial area and a wide range of commemorative plaques to choose from. We also have the Illawarra’s largest selection of cremation memorial options. Only Lakeside Memorial Park is able to offer the people of Wollongong and surrounds, the opportunity for families to be memorialised together, through options like our cremation and burial family estates, finished in either bush rock or granite.

We are a non-denominational memorial park and can cater for all cultures and religions, and with over 42 acres of space, Lakeside Memorial Park has space for individual and family memorials for generations to come.

Professional maintenance

From the first time you visit Lakeside Memorial Park, you will witness just how visually stunning a modern cemetery can be.

Lakeside Memorial Park is a fresh flower only and a no-ornamentation memorial park. Our grounds feature a peaceful, open and natural setting that are maintained throughout the year by our team of qualified and experienced grounds staff.

All memorials within Lakeside Memorial Park receive perpetual maintenance.

Family Connection

Having served Wollongong and the Illawarra for more than 50 years, almost every family in the region already has a connection to us. We are also easily accessed, as we are conveniently located near the junction of the M1 motorway and Kanahooka Road.

Our History

Formerly used as farmland, in the early 1960s, a consortium of local businessmen formed to develop the site into a cemetery. In 1967, Jack Hansen acquired the interest of his business partners and became the sole owner until InvoCare acquired Lakeside Memorial Park in 1994.

The first burial in the park took place in 1964, and in 1980 a crematorium was added to the grounds. In order to meet the funeral and memorial needs of the communities that had settled in the Illawarra, in 1993 Lakeside Memorial Park built and opened The Crypts of the Sacred Heart, which remain the grandest above ground burial spaces in the region.

Originally designed to challenge the dour notions of what a cemetery looks like, Lakeside Memorial Park is a wide, open, light and airy space; a peaceful place set amongst a sprawling natural setting.

Compare us to other cemeteries in the area, which can be bewildering and crowded places, and you will see that Lakeside Memorial Park remains true to its original vision and sets a new standard for cemeteries in the area.

Today, Lakeside Memorial Park remains an Australian-operated business that is committed to serving all of people and faiths of Wollongong and the greater Illawarra region.
